What a first contact usually leads to

• A call. Half an hour. We work out whether the question is one a model can answer, and say so if it is not.
• A short scoping round. One or two sessions with the people who steer the system, and a first model that runs. Days, not months. See from idea to simulator.
• Then a decision from your side, on something concrete you have already seen running, rather than on a proposal.

What is useful to send along

Nothing is required to start a conversation. If you have it to hand, these help:

• what you can actually change (setpoints, feed, schedule, equipment)
• what you are measured on (yield, cost, margin, water, energy, mortality)
• what data exists, however thin, and at what frequency
• the decision that prompted you to look at this
